Shahadas & Acceptance

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ

“I bear witness that there is no deity but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God.”
The shahada is the first pillar of Islam and is a recognition of accepting and declaring that there is one God, and the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Upon
Him). As a rapidly growing religion, we aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all those who wish to learn more about Islam or would like to declare
their acceptance.
We have a diverse community that comes together to support your journey in learning about Islam and guide you through each stage, answering any questions, one
step at a time. If you’d like to embrace Islam, you can accept the shahada at our mosque in the presence of an Imam.

What do I need?

Due to this important occasion, it is recommended to wash your body with the intention of accepting Islam, known as ghusl. Please bring a form of photographic ID (passport, driving license etc.) for verification of your identity.

What will happen?

The Imam will may ask you some questions to ensure your full conviction and brief you on the fundamental principles of Islam. You will be asked to confirm that you are accepting the religion of your own free will, before you will repeat the shahada after the imam, in Arabic and English. We can also provide proof of your declaration in written format.

What support can I access afterwards?

Once you have took the shahada, we will continue to support and guide you along your journey. As a member of our community, you can stay in contact with others and attend our events and activities. There is always someone available to help with anything you may need.
